City Recognized for Being Green
The Freshwater Society recognized Shoreview for its efforts to reduce the impacts of winter road maintenance.
The Freshwater Society recognized the City of Shoreview with an Environmental Leadership Award for Outstanding Efforts to Reduce the Environmental Impacts of Winter Road Maintenance at the 9th Annual Road Salt Symposium.
The Society cited Shoreview's recent advances in the use of pre-wetting, anti-icing and de-icing technologies in an effort to reduce the amount of road salt used, as well as the training and certifications of the Public Works Maintenance staff responsible for ice/snow control activities on City streets. The Society also noted Shoreview's recent implementation of pervious concrete street infrastructure with reduced road salt maintenance program and ground water monitoring partnership with the Ramsey Conservation District, Minnesota Department of Health and Grass Lake Water Management Organization.
