Water and Sewer Services
Water and sanitary sewer services are provided to most Shoreview residents by the City's Public Utility Division. This division operates and maintains wells, water storage facilities, sanitary sewer mains and lift stations; flushes city hydrants; and repairs fire hydrants.
The water supply comes from wells with a total pumping capacity of about 7,638 gallons per minute or 11 million gallons per day. To handle peak water loads, Shoreview also has the capacity to store 4 million gallons of water with two water towers and one ground reservoir. The water is chlorinated and fluoridated to meet Minnesota Department of Health standards.
The Utility Division also maintains sanitary sewer mains in Shoreview which discharge into the waste treatment system managed by the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES). For more information on MCES visit the Met Council's website.
Residents having any questions regarding their utility billings should call 651.490.4630. Questions regarding the maintenance of the utilities should contact the Utilities Division at 651.490.4661 or e-mail utilities@shoreviewmn.gov.
Utility Billing
Shoreview residents and businesses are billed once each quarter for water and sewer service. One third of the community is billed each month. The Utility Clerk handles the billing and collection process, customer concerns, as well as other responsibilities for the City.
Shoreview gets water from an underground water aquifer approximately 400 feet below ground. Six wells pump the water to the surface, where it is stored in two water towers and one underground reservoir.
Sewage treatment is provided by Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES), a division of the Metropolitan Council.
