  • Date: 03/18/2020 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Location: City Council Chambers
    4600 Victoria St. N.
    Shoreview, Minnesota 55110
  • Introduction: Learn about a new grant program that helps people in Minnesota plant native landscapes in their lawns.

Presented by Melissa King, Board of Water and Soil Resources

Pollinators like bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, and native flies play an essential role in our food production and are essential to healthy ecological systems. There are more than 450 native bee species in Minnesota but the decline of pollinators is worrying to conservation professionals, legislators and the public. Lawn to Legumes is a new grant program that provides assistance to people in Minnesota to plant native plants in their lawns, and effort to protect the federally endangered state bee - the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee.

This event is part of the 2020 Environmental Speaker Series, presented by the Shoreview Environmental Quality Committee. All presentations are held in the city council chambers starting at 7 pm and last approximately 45 minutes with additional time for questions. Each event will be televised on channel 16 live in the evening and scheduled for replays. Call 651-490-4665 for more information.
