- Introduction: Learn about a new grant program that helps people in Minnesota plant native landscapes in their lawns.
Presented by Melissa King, Board of Water and Soil Resources
Pollinators like bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, and native flies play an essential role in our food production and are essential to healthy ecological systems. There are more than 450 native bee species in Minnesota but the decline of pollinators is worrying to conservation professionals, legislators and the public. Lawn to Legumes is a new grant program that provides assistance to people in Minnesota to plant native plants in their lawns, and effort to protect the federally endangered state bee - the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee.
