Post Date:11/20/2017

2017 Citizen of the Year Recipient Ady Wickstrom & Mayor Martin

Congratulations to Ady Wickstrom (left), who received the 2017 Shoreview Citizen of the Year Award from Mayor Sandy Martin and the City Council at the annual Volunteer Appreciation event held November 16th. Ady is the essence of a “citizen volunteer” and has given to the Shoreview community for nearly 30 years. In addition to being a councilmember from 1996 to 2016, Ady has served in various leadership roles in organizations such as the Association of Metropolitan Cities, Metro Cities Metropolitan Governance Committee, Ramsey County League of Local Government Board, and Northeast Youth and Family Service Board. Over her 3 decades of volunteerism and leadership in Shoreview, Ady has been a champion of many causes and programs that have directly benefited our community.

2017 Caring Youth Award Winner Abby Christiansen & Mayor Martin

In addition to the Citizen of the Year Award, Mayor Sandy Martin and the Human Rights Commission, presented Abby Christiansen (right) with the 2017 Shoreview Caring Youth Award. As a junior at Roseville Area High School, Abby has volunteered countless hours at St. Odilia Church serving on multiple leadership teams and participating in retreats, programs, and Vacation Bible School. Most significantly, Abby has become a voice for those without one speaking at several retreats and sessions on tough topics like sexting, pressure in dating, and the bullying that often accompanies these issues. It is apparent that everything she has participated in has been a testament of her character, service and leadership and is very deserving of this award.

Read more about Ady and Abby and their additional contributions to our community in the January/February 2018 edition of ShoreViews (mailed to residents mid-January 2018).
