New Recycling Contract Begins July 1st
The City of Shoreview is changing its recycling provider beginning in July. A few months ago, the City entered in a new recycling contract with Eureka Recycling, a non-profit zero-waste organization. As part of the contract, Eureka will be providing tailored educational materials and expanded outreach activities to increase and improve recycling efforts. Below is more information on what you can expect from the contract change.
Republic Service Collection and Carts: Republic Services last collection will take place the week of June 18th. Additionally, Republic Services will be picking carts up June 18th – June 29th. Residents are asked to leave their carts at the curb after their recycling has been collected the week of June 18th to allow Republic personnel to pick up the carts.
New Carts: As part of the new contract, the City purchased recycling carts for residents. The new carts will be delivered June 18th – June 30th and will be based on recycling zones. Those whose recycling is collected on Mondays will receive their carts first. It’s anticipated that each zone will take a couple days to complete the cart delivery process. Deliveries will take place Monday – Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Eureka Collection: Eureka will be picking up recyclables on the opposite week than it is currently collected. The first week of collection will begin on Monday, July 9th. Please note that your collection day is not changing. For example, recycling collected on the 1st and 3rd Mondays, will now be collected on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. Given that there will be a three-week gap in recycling collection service, Eureka will collect any extra recyclables set out by your cart in paper bags during the first week. A recycling calendar will be placed on your new cart when it is delivered.
