2020 Commission Openings
Four citizen groups are seeking volunteers. These committees or commissions share experiences and expertise and provide valuable input to the city.
- Economic Development Commission provides guidance and support to the city council on matters relating to economic development and redevelopment, and promotion of business retention and expansion through business visits, networking events, and other programs. Applicants must live or work in Shoreview. Meetings take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 am.
- Environmental Quality Committee provides recommendations to the city council on issues relating to the environment, water quality, and solid waste. Meetings take place on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 pm.
- Planning Commission prepares and reviews the City’s comprehensive plan, adopts and enforces official controls to implement the City’s plans, and reviews and makes recommendations on all development applications. Meetings take place the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
- Public Safety Committee advises the City Council on items related to public safety including police, fire, animal control, and emergency management. Meetings take place the third Thursday of January, March, May, July, September and November at 7 p.m.
The terms for the first three groups are February 2020 – January 2023. The term for the public safety committee is 2020 – January 2022.
