Under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MN Statute 13.42, subd 3), the following data you provide on your Application for Employment is automatically considered public information:

1. Your job history
2. Your education and training
3. Your work availability
4. Veteran status
5. Relevant test scores
6. Your rank on our eligible list

Public information is available to anyone who asks to see it. Shoreview does not use eligibility lists (#6), nor do we typically use scored tests in our selection process (#5).

Your name is considered private information until you are considered a finalist for a position. A finalist is someone who is selected for what we believe will be the last step in the selection process. This City does not post or announce names of finalists, but if asked we are required to provide them. All other information is considered private and is only available to anyone you authorize to see it, and to the staff who need to use it in the hiring process.

You are not legally required to supply any of the data we ask for on the application. However, if you choose to withhold information, it may be cause for rejecting your
application or jeopardize your chances of advancing through the hiring process.

*MN law and our procedures are subject to change without notice.
