Shoreview consistently ranks among the finest places to live in the Twin Cities and the City is committed to helping current or new residents by offering these home ownership and home improvement resources.

new home loan program launched in September 2018, is now available to residents and first-time home buyers. This program is offered in partnership with NeighborWorks Home Partners to make purchasing or improving homes in Shoreview more affordable. There are three loan options offered, each targeting different needs in the home buying or home-ownership process. 

  • First-Time Home-buyers Down Payment Assistance Program: New home-buyers may qualify for up to $15,000 in down payment assistance, making payments only on the interest as long as they live in and own their home.
  • Home Improvement Loan Program: Loans of up to $25,000 are available to help Shoreview homeowners with additional interest discounts for those 65 years and older or military veterans.
  • Combination Purchase/Rehab Loan: Great for people looking for fixer-uppers, this program provides down payment assistance plus home improvement financing, up to a combined total of $30,000.

Additional Resources

Center for Energy and Environment's Lending Center  is a non-profit organization that offers financing to residential property owners for most rehabilitation and energy efficiency projects. Residents can access low-interest secured and unsecured financing for virtually any home improvement project including energy efficiency specific projects, solar, and geothermal.
