The City of Shoreview offers over 85 miles of beautiful trails that wind throughout the community, connecting residents and visitors to parks, shopping areas and businesses. To keep these trails looking their best and provide an enjoyable experience for all users, the City is offering a new volunteer opportunity through the Adopt-a-Trail program.

Although the City is responsible for basic maintenance and upkeep of the many miles of trails throughout Shoreview, it is offering residents and local businesses an opportunity to help enhance and further beautify the trails, serve as a steward of Shoreview’s natural resources and gain recognition for their work.

Volunteers can sign up to adopt a trail segment for a two-year period in the fall of odd # years. As part of the program, the volunteer(s) agrees to hold a clean-up day at least twice each year, picking up trash and other light debris. The City will provide trash bags for these clean-up efforts. Other examples of work may include reporting any downed trees or other large-scale maintenance issues that City crews should attend to.

To recognize the contribution, time and effort of the volunteer(s), the City will post a custom Adopt-a-Trail sign at the ends of each trail segment with the name(s) of the volunteer(s).

The City of Shoreview has created this interactive map for those interested in participating in the program. Users can select a trail segment to determine if it is available or already adopted. You can also download a map [PDF].
