Ellen Brenna, Natural Resources Coordinator

The City prunes vegetation in the street right-of-way or boulevard areas through regular tree pruning in the winter season. City crews will trim branches overhanging into boulevards that are at risk of being damaged by snow plows, garbage trucks or fire trucks. Any trees or shrubbery blocking fire hydrants, sidewalks, signs, trails, or creating sight distance issues at intersections may be trimmed throughout the year.

If residents choose to trim the trees or shrubbery themselves, vegetation should be maintained to at least 15 feet from the streets.

Volunteers maintain several city-owned rain gardens and shoreline buffers with regular weeding, planting, and deadheading.
