Dale Court North and South Water Main Extension Project

Update 4-19-19

It is expected the contractor will start working on the outstanding items required to complete the project in early May.

Update 11-9-18

All major work has been completed. The contractor has miscellaneous punch list items to complete before they close the project.

Update 10-26-18

PAVING RESCHEDULED
Paving on Dale Court North and Dale Court South has been rescheduled to Monday, October 29th due to rain this Friday afternoon. Paving under heavy rain will cause unintended results that negatively affect the quality of the pavement.

Update 10-25-18

The final pavement layer is scheduled for this Friday, October 25th, weather permitting. You may drive on the new pavement once it has been fully compacted by the rollers, or when the paving crew says it is okay to do so. Please note that you may be momentarily delayed for up to an hour or more while the new pavement is being installed. For your safety and others', we ask that you continue to be cautious driving through the work zone and next to heavy equipment.

Update 10-24-18

Yard and boulevard restoration work is being completed along with work to raise road manholes and gate valves in preparation for the final pavement. The exact date for paving has not yet been determined. As the project nears completion, please remember to continue to use caution while driving through the work zone and next to heavy equipment.
Please note that once the sod has been placed, it will require 1 inch to 2 inch of water a week for the roots to take hold. While contractor will be responsible for watering the sod for the next 30 days as necessary, we do encourage you to take time to water the sod if you begin to see it drying out. We also ask that you do not mow the new sod for at least two to three weeks. Mowing and other traffic on the new sod can damage the root structure and hamper future growth. When you do mow, start by mowing on the highest setting on your mower and gradually work down to your normal height throughout the year. Sod that is damaged by residents mowing too soon or excessively short will not be replaced by the City. Please also avoid having children play on the lawn until at least a month after  green-up. It is best to keep heavy traffic off the lawn until May. Additionally, please do not apply typical weed and feed this fall. Herbicides (weed killers) that interfere with rooting could kill your new sod.

The City will conduct final sod inspections in the spring of next year after the snow melt. If the sod is found to be healthy, residents are expected to take care of it from that point on and the City will no longer be responsible for the replacement of sod that is damaged or dead from neglect.

Update 9-4-18

The concrete work has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 6 due to rain. Installing concrete in wet weather can have negative short and long term impacts. For the next several days you can park your car in your driveway. On Thursday, September 6, please have all the vehicles, trailers, and boats you will need for the next seven days out of your driveway by 7 am. Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Update 8-31-18

Concrete curb and gutter is scheduled to be installed on Tuesday, September 4th, followed by concrete driveway repairs on Wednesday, September 5th, depending on the weather. Please have all your vehicles, boats, and trailers that you will need for the next 7 days out of your driveway by 7:00 AM on Tuesday, September 4th. During this time, please park your vehicles on Dale Street North between Arner Avenue and Mound Avenue, on Mackubin Street, or on Tomlyn Avenue. The contractor will also need the road cleared during the day to prep it for paving. You may park in front of your house between 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.
Please do not drive on the new concrete for 7 days after it is poured. The concrete needs that time to fully harden to support the weight of a vehicle. Thank you for your cooperation with this notice, and for your continued patience during this project.

Update 8-17-18

Update 8-10-18

The contractor will start grading Dale Court North & South to prep for gravel and curb and gutter on Wednesday 8/15 so all vehicles needed during the day should be moved out of your driveways by 7:00 am and parked on adjacent streets to the project.

Update 8-3-18

The contractor has completed extending the water main into Dale Court North and Dale Court South, and has finishing installing water services to the homes. The next stage will involve grading and prepping the road for the installation of curb and gutter and the base layer of pavement.

Update 7-20-18

Possibly start on Wednesday morning with watermain connections on Dale Court North & South and will continue on that watermain work throughout the week. Any vehicles needed on those days should be moved and parked on adjacent streets to the project area and moved by 7:00 am each morning. Residents will have access to their driveways later in the evening. Working hours are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm during the week.
