Water efficiency rebate program

Upgrading an old irrigation system or toilet? Rebates are available for installing WaterSense certified smart irrigation controllers and WaterSense certified toilets. Funding is provided by the Metropolitan Council from the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment and the City of Shoreview.

Apply for a rebate today. The grant will close on June 30, 2026 or when grant funds are used, whichever comes first.

Eligibility

  • Must be an upgrade to an existing system. New irrigation system installations are not eligible. New homes or additions are not eligible.
  • Product must be WaterSense-certified
  • Products must be purchased after July 24, 2024
  • Product must be installed
  • Shoreview resident with non-delinquent water/sewer utility account
  • Commercial accounts do not qualify

Rebate information

  • Rebates cover 75% of pre-tax cost, up to $150
  • Funding is limited and available on first-come, first-served basis
  • Rebate appears as credit on resident’s utility bill
  • One rebate per utility account for eligible irrigation controller; up to two rebates per utility account for eligible toilet
  • City has the right to discontinue or amend rebate program at any time

Program guidelines

  • Must follow city’s odd/even, no 11 am to 5 pm watering restrictions

Required documents

  • Copy of itemized invoice or receipt (not online order confirmation), including make and model, required to determine eligibility
  • WaterSense documentation or label must be included
  • Photo of installed controller or toilet required at time of application
  • Complete documentation must be provided to be eligible

EyeOnWater is a free program available to water customers in Shoreview. Residents who sign up can track water consumption, reduce water use, and save on bills. Track daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly water water usage to better understand how much water your household uses and get alerts to detect potential leaks.
