Running for Office

There will be three seats up for election on the city council in 2026: one mayor and two councilmembers. The mayor serves a two-year term of office and receives $10,128 annually. The councilmembers serve overlapping four-year terms and receive $7,524 annually.

Those interested in running for office must be:

  • An eligible voter
  • A Shoreview resident for at least 30 days before the election
  • At least 21 years' old

The filing period is July 14 - 28, 2026. You can file at either location below, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm. The cost is $5

  • Ramsey County Elections, 90 Plato Blvd West, St. Paul

Campaign finance forms

Per Minnesota State Statutes, the city must post all campaign finance reports filed during an election season for four years. View the 2022 and 2024 campaign finance reports from candidates that received contributions or spent $750 or more.
