City council and volunteer opportunities

The mayor and city council are responsible for all policy and legislative decisions. The city also has nine committees or commissions that advise the city council on a variety of issues. There are also several other volunteer opportunities for you to get involved in.

The Shoreview Community Center offers a state-of-the-art facility with a community atmosphere. Its features include:

Curb appeal

Planning to update your new house or yard? Most home improvements require building permits.

Overnight parking

Overnight parking is not allowed from 2 – 5 am on all Shoreview city streets. If you need to park overnight due to construction or overnight guests, you can request a permit.

Permits can be issued for up to seven days and five vehicles. Dumpsters, bagsters, pods, or unlicensed vehicles are not allowed on the street.

Please submit the permit application at least 24 hours in advance. Requests are reviewed Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm.

Shoreview is set within a natural landscape of lakes and open spaces. Residents can enjoy:

Public safety

Police service in Shoreview is provided by Ramsey County Sheriff's Office.

Fire service is provided by Lake Johanna Fire Department.

Emergency medical service is provided by Allina Health Medical Transportation.

When you need police or fire response, call 911. This applies to emergencies and non-emergencies since all calls are routed through the dispatch center.
