Cold weather tips
Prevent frozen pipes
Direct a fan from a room with heat towards the service line.
Turn a faucet on a very slow stream and let it run to keep the line moving.
If your service line is in an area without heat, leave doors open and a clear path.
Extreme cold warning
Dress warm: cover your face, hands, and head.
Check on relatives, neighbors, pets, older adults, and other high-risk community members to make sure they are staying safe.
Heat your home safely. Only use generators and grills outdoors and away from windows. Never heat your home with a gas stovetop or oven.
Find a
warming space
.
Motor vehicle reminder
Never warm your vehicle in an enclosed area such as a garage.
Keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid a gas line freeze up.
If you need to travel, check road conditions, pack an emergency kit for your car and tell people when you are supposed to arrive.
