Changes coming to Lake Johanna Fire Department stations
Published on June 10, 2026
Construction on the new Lake Johanna Fire Department’s (LJFD) station is nearly complete! This project, located on Pine Tree Drive in Arden Hills, will be the department's new headquarters and includes:
- Offices for administrative staff
- Living quarters and bedrooms for full-time and part-time shift personnel
- Fitness and wellness spaces
- Classroom and training spaces
- Space for proper decontamination of gear and equipment
Check back later for more information on the grand opening.
LJFD serves the cities of Arden Hills, North Oaks, and Shoreview. They currently have three stations:
- Station 120 – Hodgson Road in North Oaks
- Station 130 – Lexington Avenue North in Shoreview (next to Turtle Lake Elementary)
- Station 140 – Victoria Street in Shoreview (next to Island Lake)
Updates to station 140
With the new headquarters, LFJD will soon be moving out of station 140, which is owned by the city. LJFD will still have three stations moving forward and service will not be impacted. This station was selected as the one to close because it is land-locked and the rail line next to it impacts response times.
Over the past several months, the city has been working with a commercial real estate agent, IAG, to identify the best long-term use for this property. Some ideas that have been discussed include a restaurant, arts and cultural center, recreation space, or business incubator and maker space. No decisions have been made at this time.
With that work completed, we are now going to be listing it for sale.
The city's goal is to select a use that enhances the community, supports our economy, and takes advantage of this unique location for years to come.
