2026 Watermain Rehabilitation Project

The city is rehabilitating water pipes in the southwest area of Shoreview by inserting a new liner pipe into the existing pipes in the southwest area of the city. Streets include: Lexington Ave (Carlton to Glenhill), Edgewater Ave (Lexington to Richmond), Glenhill Road and Richmond Ave (County Road D to Edgewater Ave). 

There is an informational meeting about this project for adjacent residents July 22nd, 6PM at Shoreview Community Center, 4580 Victoria St N. in the Shoreview Room.

The contractor plans to complete this project from July 27th to late October. Dates are subject to change and weather delays.

Funding

No special assessments are proposed for this project. 

The project is funded through the city's water fund.

The city council awarded the construction contract to Geislinger & Sons, Inc. at their May 18, 2026 meeting. 

Construction impacts

Residents in the project area can expect:

• Road closures of these city streets at Lexington Avenue: Carlton Drive, Ingerson Road, Edgewater Avenue and Glenhill Road. They will still be open at Richmond Avenue. They will be open at Richmond Avenue. Lexington Avenue will remain open during construction, but lanes and the trail will be shifted around the work area.

• Access to homes will be maintained throughout the project, although short delays may occur while crews are working directly in front of driveways.
• Short-term interruptions to water service. Affected properties will receive advance notice before any planned water shutdowns. 
• Temporary water systems.
• Temporary water discoloration following construction activities. If this occurs, residents should run cold water until it clears.
• The contractor will restore any disturbed pavement, boulevard areas, and landscaping once construction is complete.
